Fashion Week Friday.

To be completely honest, besides a few blogs and articles on Fashion Week, I don’t really follow the event all that closely. But, you see all these “street style” photos of people hanging out between shows and I can’t help but wonder “How much did they PAY for that outfit?!” (sometimes critically sometimes out of pure envy).

Well. This article from Yoodot asked a few attendees that question and here are some of the answers:

75_dollars

  350_dollars

2400_dollars

too_much

priceless

“Priceless”  – I LOVE that answer! For more outfits and prices, click the images above or here. Thank you, Alison at Brown Eyed Style for the link!

… THEN there’s Jimmy Kimmel’s prank … So funny!

7Side inspiration.

Oh hey, Wednesday! Hurry up and be over so I can be closer to the weekend, k? Thanks.

So today’s post might be kinda familiar to some of you but… I just wanted to share with you, once again, my brother’s blog/talents and update you a little.  Below is a shortened version of a post I wrote a while back. With an update at the end.

Good morning!

Today’s blog is actually belongs to my (older) brother, Matt. He went to Virginia Tech and majored in Industrial Design. In other words, he may actually like art and design even more than ME! Matt is really into making things…

7Side Design …. allows you to peek into his artsy brain; from his hands-on projects and hobbies to his unique inspirations and experiences. This guy, who designs BOATS by day, leads a seriously awesomely art-infused life (in FLORIDA no less!)!

I think my favorite thing that Matt has created is one of his first 7Side projects, the Sanguine Dresser. I mean… it’s a dresser AND a shoe rack AND a headboard… how cool is that?! Another one of my favorite projects that Matt… made me my very own “e.” I seriously love it. (see below. )

Honestly, I think that 7Side Design is a great up-and-coming blog/company (and I’m not just saying that because he’s my brother). I seriously can’t wait to not only SEE more but hopefully one day OWN more of Matt’s creations!

Since that posting, a little over a year ago, Matt has done more work, like his wooden wall installations. Originally, I was thinking about having him come, and/or send me the supplies, to install our very own wooden wall up in our loft. Then I realized that the only real wall the loft has continues into a stairwell, and down the stairs, into the “entryway” – way too much wooden wall (especially for a rental..) – so we may have to make it more of an accent PIECE instead of accent WALL.

His walls look so cool though! I love all the different shades (which are totally natural!) The walls are seriously something straight out of Anthropologie (only one of my favorite stores of all time). Below are pictures taken from the 7side Design Blog:

Visit 7side Design’s blog and check out all his awesome creations! Happy Hump Day!

Mrs. Fashion.

Well I did it! I finally went shopping over the weekend…  I didn’t really get much… nothing im totally ECSTATIC about… but some good basics. Speaking of shopping though.. I want to introduce you to one of my favorite fashion blogs called:

Mrs. Lilien features a different style/look every weekday. She decides on a theme and then gives you a dress, handbag, earrings, shoes, household products, alcohol, & etc… whatever she sees fit for that category. For example, her theme yesterday was Cocktails on the Veranda. Here’s what she put together:

The author of the blog, Kelley Lilien, is a “designer + stylist extraordinista.” She even has a separate/sister website, http://www.kelleylilien.com/, that shows her work as a designer.

I think I am drawn to this website due to its GORGEOUS colors, layout, and simplicity. She simply shows you her choices for the day, with a little blurb and where you can purchase the stuff for yourself. Brilliant.

Create art while you work!

I am so excited to tell you about today’s website!

Although… it’s not really a website at all… its… an application for you computer that allows you to create ART while you Work!

IOGraph.

IOGraph (which used to be called Mouse Track) is an application, created by designer Anatoly Zenkov, that you simply download and…. whenever you open the application (double click the application you saved- ideally to your desktop), it immediately starts tracing your mouse moves. When your mouse is inactive, it begins creating a dot, similar to an old-fashioned ink pen, I suppose. Once you are done (which is whenever the heck you feel like it) simply save the image and BAM! You’ve Got Art.

I actually found this website via a blog that I follow (Sorry! I can’t remember who it was!), which led me to Flickr (I LOVE how the artist tagged his “coffee break” dots in the photos!), and then a super sketchy link. I was skeptical at first about allowing an application to come onto my computer and follow my every move but… after a few days, I couldn’t take it anymore. I HAD to do it! So… I did it last night. Fortunately, I ran across a more official website and felt a little more secure about what I was sticking on my computer.

I ran the IOGraph from 7:12pm to 8:12pm while I was surfin’ the net, writing emails, facebooking & etc…. as you can see by the pic (above), I spend most of my time going through tabs on my Safari, scrolling, and using my applications along the bottom of my computer screen. The poor bottom left of my screen is so neglected! (doesn’t it sorta remind you of an old school Etch A Sketch?!)

I seriously think that these “mouse tracks” would look AWESOME printed on some huge canvases. And…. I just might have to do that depending on how pretty mine turn out over the next few tries.

Next time I run IOGraph, I don’t think I’ll run it for quite as long. The design looked way cooler after doing it for only a few minutes… either that or way longer than an hour… I think at some point it just starts looking more like pen scribbles and less like art.

Isn’t this COOL!? I would LOVE to see some of YOUR “mouse track” creations!

Borrow or Steal? It’s entirely up to you.

Happy Fridaaaay! One Week til Christmaaass!

The website of the day is definiately for the ladies out there (holler!). And for you gentleman readers to share with their lady friends.

Ladies, have you ever just DROOLED over a designer bag, dreaming about exactly what outfits you would wear with it, how your friends would look at you with envy, and how awesome it would feel slung over your shoulder/arm… And then – BAM – reality sinks in and you remember that your entry-level-ish job (at least in my case) just doesn’t quite keep up with your taste… Well… I have discovered a solution. JUST in time for New Years.

It’s called Bag Borrow or Steal.

Bag Borrow or Steal, soon to be called Avelle, is a website that basically rents out designer items to its members. Not only does it rent handbags, it also rents accessories including: jewelry, sunglasses, and watches! You may be asking yourself, “How does THAT work!?” Basically, once you sign up for a memebership (after your free trial period, it costs $60/month),  scroll through all their items (by category, designer, popularity, or new arrivals), and select the goodies you would like to rent. *Make sure you notice whether or not there is a wait for that particular item if you want it immediately. Select how long you want to have it for and pay. It’s that easy! (See below)

I actually spoke with Sarah, a customer service representative, via live chat (she was SUPER NICE!) and she explained to me a little bit about the services that come with the rented item:

“Just for your information though, while we purchase all of our items new (except for our vintage collection) we do rent them to multiple members. However, every time an item is returned to our warehouse it undergoes a 10-point inspection process including any cleaning or minor repairs needed, to ensure that items are delivered in “like new” condition. Once an item is no longer representative of our quality standards, it is removed from inventory. Should an item be delivered in unsatisfactory condition, you may return it within two business days and contact Customer Service for a full refund…”

So don’t worry, basic wear and tear is covered by the cost of the rental but you may want to purchase additional insurance if your young child, glass of red wine, or new puppy manages to come in contact with it (eeek!)!!

More good news!: If you happen to absolutely fall head over heels in love with your rental, you have the option of keeping it (or STEALING it as they say…for an additional price, of course…)

*Now, here comes the important part, girls. In order to get a designer bag from Bag Borrow or Steal in time for New Years, you must make your selection (of a bag IN STOCK) by Tuesday (Dec 22)- Wednesday morning at the LATEST. It takes 4-6 days to process your request and ship it.*

Have you ever used Bag Borrow or Steal? What was your experience like? If not, would you consider becoming a member?
