It gives you wings.

Good morning!

Last night was the first of  “A Man, A Can, A Plan (second helping)” experiment. We’re making a diff recipe from the book Monday-Friday for the rest of May (the next 3 weeks). Last night was

Redbull Steak.

Yes, Redbull… as in… it “gives you wings.” The meal was fairly cheap… It came to under $20…

Here’s what’s in it:

  • 8oz can of Redbull – $4.00 (We got a 16 oz one so that we didn’t have to buy a 4 pack… I’m gunna guess it was… $4 (which it wasn’t))
  • 2 lbs of boneless strip steaks – $4.75/lb = $9.50
  • 10oz can of fat free beef gravy – $0.98
  • Can of whole new potatoes – $1.33
  • (the recipe also called for a can of mushrooms but bf and I don’t like mushrooms)
  • 3 Tbsp steak seasoning – $3.25 (we had just run out)

Here’s how we did it:

  • Pour the can of redbull, 1 Tbsp of the steak seasoning, and the steak strips into a big freezer bag
  • Marinade steak for 2-8 hours
  • Take steak out, sprinkle more seasoning on it (about 1Tbsp-ish)
  • Grill/broil the steak for about 8ish minutes per side (or until cooked to your liking)
  • Season potatoes with steak seasoning or whatever else you want… skewer them (if grilling)… or stick them in a pan… and put them in with the steak (may want to turn/stir them occasionally)
  • Pour can of beef gravy, mushrooms (if you’re into that), and 1/2 Tbsp into a bowl and microwave for about 3 minutes (stirring occasionally) and pour over finished steak
  • Enjoy!

Here’s how it turned out:

If you like Redbull, you’ll def like the steak. It was nice and tender and very… Redbull-ish. We just sprinkled some steak seasoning on the potatoes and stuck them in the oven with the steak.  I’m not sure I’d be DYING to make it again but… maybe by the time we’re done with the whole book (it could easily take 5 weeks or more), we’ll be ready.

To get this book (or others from the series), check out Amazon.com or other bookstores! (I got BF’s at Barnes & Noble , I think).
